FUJIFILM Australia today introduced five new optimum products that will be added to its range of cameras and lenses: X Series mirrorless camera, X Series fixed lens camera, X Series external flash, FUJINON zoom lens and a rugged FinePix weather resistant camera.
- FUJIFILM X-E2s – premium rangefinder-style X Series mirrorless camera
- FUJINON XF100-400mm lens - super telephoto zoom lens for X Series range
- SHOE MOUNT FLASH EF-X500 – high-end external flash for X Series range
- FUJIFILM X70 – fixed lens camera, smallest and lightest X Series model
- FINEPIX XP90– compact, rugged and lightweight camera.
Four of the new products are expected to be available in Australia in February and March 2016, while the X Series external flash is expected in May 2016.
FUJIFILM X-E2s - available March 2016 (RRP - $1,399 with an XF18-55mm lens)
The X-E2s is a compact, durable and lightweight mirrorless camera that inherits its functionality and rangefinder-style design from the X-E2. It includes a Real Time Viewfinder complete with a large 2.36 million dot organic EL display that offers a magnification of 0.62x1 with a clear, high definition viewfinder screen. It also has an electronic viewfinder with the world’s shortest display time lag2 of 0.005 seconds.
With a weight of just 350 grams, the X-E2s features a new AF system with zone and wide/tracking modes for capturing moving subjects, improved grip for easy handling, electronic shutter, top plate dials, and a more intuitive Graphic User Interface (GUI) to enhance the photographer’s experience.
The X-E2s is equipped with an APS-C X-Trans3 CMOS II sensor with built-in phase detection AF and EXR Processor II image processing engine which combine to deliver stunning results and a speedy performance – autofocus in 0.06 seconds4, start-up time of 0.5 seconds5, shutter time lag of 0.05 seconds and a shooting interval of 0.5 seconds.
Other features include Eye Detection AF, Auto Macro, Film Simulation modes, silent electronic shutter7 capable of exposures up to 1/32,000 second, Full HD video with the X-TRANS CMOS II sensor, built-in Wi-Fi for shooting from smartphone or tablet devices8.
FUJINON XF100-400mm lens – available February 2016 (RRP - $2,799)
The X Series mirrorless camera XF lens line up has now increased to 21 with the addition of the new FUJINON XF100-400mmF4.5-5.6 R LM OIS WR – a super telephoto zoom lens that covers a 35mm focal length equivalent of 152-609mm. The high performance optical construction of 21 elements in 14 groups includes five extra low dispersion (ED) lenses and one Super ED lens to help reduce chromatic aberration and deliver the highest image quality in its class. Weighing 1379g, the lens is designed for handheld shooting with the added assistance of a 5.0 stop optical image stabilisation system.
Twin linear motors deliver fast and quiet focusing on moving objects. The motors are so quiet, the lens is even is ideal for shooting live music performances and theatre productions. The lens is water and dust resistant and can operate in temperatures as low as -10° Celsius. A fluorine coating has been applied to the front lens element to repel water and dirt. The lens hood features a polarising filter window and a locking mechanism to keep it securely attached to the lens.
The lens is compatible with the XF1.4X TC WR teleconverter, and when attached becomes a 140-560mm F6.3-8 or 213-853mm (35 mm equivalent). Phase detection AF shooting is still possible – even at F8.
SHOE MOUNT FLASH EF-X500 – available May 2016 (RRP – to be advised)
The high-end Shoe Mount Flash EF-X500 is an external flash that allows users to expand their photography with high speed synchronisation and multiple flash TTL auto functions. This low profile, premium design accessory is ideal for FUJIFILM’s compact and lightweight X Series cameras.
The high-speed synchronisation (FP) supports the 1/8000 second shutter found on the FUJIFILM X-Pro2, while the multiple flash-unit TTL auto function allows photographers to control any lighting conditions. The EF-X500 is weather and dust resistant - the perfect companion for the FUJIFILM X-T1 and X-Pro2, which provide the same protection levels.
The FUJIFILM X70 is the smallest and lightest X-Series model with an APS-C size sensor. This fixed lens camera features a new FUJINON 18.5mm F2.8 lens (28mm equivalent in 35mm format) to capture scenes from landscape to snapshots.
Combining simple manual operation with superior image quality and versatile picture taking functions, the X70 is the first X Series model to offer a touchscreen display that rotates 180 degrees, enabling photographers to shoot from up high, down low and also capture selfies. By using the optical design of the X100T, the X70 is equipped with a compact, high quality, wide angle lens in a smaller thinner body that weighs just 340 grams (including the battery and memory card). Apertures can be changed in 1/3 or 1 stop increments, and the focusing ring doubles as a control ring for quick access to a range of functions.
With a smooth, premium aluminium body, the X70 also features an AF system with zone and wide/tracking modes for capturing moving subjects, 16.3 megapixel X-Trans CMOS II sensor, Auto Mode Switch for automatic shooting, eight customisable Fn buttons, Film Simulation modes, 3-inch monitor with 1.04 million dots, high ISO setting of 51,200 (during expanded sensitivity), Full HD video, and built-in Wi-Fi for shooting from smartphone or tablet devices8. Premium accessories are also available for the X70.
FUJIFILM XP90 – available March 2016 (RRP - $299)
The FUJIFILM XP90 features four rugged protection features – waterproof to 50ft/15m, shock-proof to 5.8ft/1.75m9, freeze-proof to 14°F/-10°C and dustproof.The double locking mechanism also prevents accidental opening of the battery / memory card compartment.
When the powerful processor combines with the 1/2.3” 16.4 megapixel BSI CMOS sensor, the XP90 delivers high quality images at a rapid rate. Images can be captured at up to 10 frames per second (fps) at full resolution and 6fps at reduced resolution (2MP). An Interval Timer can shoot images at set intervals of 10 minutes, 5 minutes, 60 seconds, 30 seconds and 15 seconds and a Time Lapse Video function can automatically convert the sequences of images into a video - ideal for capturing sunsets or a flower opening.
The XP90 also offers a 5x optical zoom lens with a 28mm (35mm format equivalent) wide angle setting for capturing landscape and scenic shots, Optical Image Stabilisation to minimise camera shake, 11 Advanced Art Filters, High Dynamic Range capture, Motion Panorama 360° and Full HD movie capture.
