Fujifilm's much anticipated FinePix S5 Pro is set to take digital SLR cameras to the next level by providing increased performance, control and durability that will appeal to wedding, portrait and studio photographers.

Fujifilm Senior Category Manager – Consumer & Professional Products, Matt Dole, said the durable metal alloy frame of the FinePix S5 Pro features Fujifilm's new Super CCD SR Pro coupled with Real Photo Processor Pro technology.

"The double pixel technology (6.17 million S-Pixels and 6.17 million R-pixels) of the FinePix S5 Pro's Super CCD SR Pro sensor is approximately 400% wider than a CCD working on a single pixel design," Mr Dole said.

"The Super CCD SR Pro features an optimised low-pass filter that will reduce noise and minimise moiré.

"The newly developed Real Photo Processor Pro technology features two cycles of noise reduction to enable image capture at high sensitivities from ISO 100 to ISO 3200, with visibly reduced noise.

"In addition to its technologically advanced image processing and quality, the FinePix S5 Pro also offers increased colour and dynamic range control.

"There are six preset ranges to select from for greater creative control over the camera's expanded dynamic range between 100% and 400%.

"There are also five film simulation modes for superior reproduction of natural skin tones.

"The result is images that are beautifully vibrant with colour recorded as the human eye would see it.

"At the push of a button, the FinePix S5 Pro's Face Detection Technology detects up to 10 faces in a scene immediately after each image has been captured. Facial detail such as focus and exposure can then be confirmed on the LCD monitor," Mr Dole said.

Other camera functions and features include:

• Nikon F-mount compatibility for all functionality with all Nikkor AF-D/G and the latest AF-S optics
• RAW+ jpeg (4,256 x 2,848 pixels; 3,024 x 2,016 pixels, 2,304 x 1,536 pixels) dual-save mode
• Mac and PC supported tethered shooting mode via USB 2.0 port and optional Hyper Utility software
• Robust lightweight magnesium-alloy body with moisture and dust-proof seals
• Durable shutter unit stands up to approximately 100,000 cycles
• Adoption of high precision i-TTL flash control
• 11-point AF sensor with fast auto-focusing
• Supports 1/3, 1/2 and 1 stop lens aperture control
• Shutter speed 30 sec. to 1/8000 sec, maximum flash sync speed of 1/250 sec.
• 3 levels of custom function locking with password protection
• Remark function enables addition of comments to an image file by connecting a RS-232C barcode reader to the camera body
• 2.5 inch LCD with 235,000 pixels provides 100% frame coverage. Colour and monochromatic 30 seconds live view function to check focusing
• Li-ion rechargeable battery
• Compact Flash™ (CF) Card (Type I / II) and Microdrive™ compatible

• LAN adaptor for wireless, high speed image transfer
• New Hyper Utility software for precise editing control of images captured in CCD-RAW 14-bit format. Software also enables remote PC control of the FinePix S5 Pro.

The Fujifilm FinePix S5 Pro is expected to have a recommended retail price of $2,995 including GST.
