Fujifilm Australia Pty Ltd has been awarded one of the nation’s largest health care contracts \ by the Victorian Department of Human Services (DHS).
Fujifilm Medical Systems Australia General Manager, Peter Carmody, said over the next five years Fujifilm will be providing at least nine Victorian public health care agencies with state-of-the-art equipment and services, including:
“Each of the nine public health care agencies may have several hospital sites within its region. The State-wide system design is standardised on a distributed architecture connecting to a State-wide long term central archive system,” Mr Carmody said.
The contract with Fujifilm Australia Pty Ltd is worth an estimated value of A$28 million, with an option to extend a further five years. In addition to being one of the nation’s largest health care contracts of its kind, it is also one of the biggest global deals for Fujifilm Medical Systems.
Once Fujifilm’s equipment has been installed, there will be a common platform across Victoria’s participating public health care agencies that will provide a seamless solution for managing, storing and distributing images and information throughout their facilities.
Other benefits include direct access to electronic information by all participating agencies enabling more informed diagnostic assessments, speedy access to medical images, more efficient and effective use of personnel, and a chemical free environment.
Mr Carmody said the comprehensive selection process over the past 12 months to win the contract comprised extensive demonstrations and presentations, thorough site visits to existing Fujifilm customer locations in Australia and the United States, as well as panel discussions.
“Fujifilm experts will now commence an initial State-wide Implementation, Planning and Study process (IPS) which will then be followed by an individual IPS reconnaissance at each hospital that is scheduled to receive the new equipment,” he said.
