Welcome to our newest addition to the Fujifilm Medical Systems team, Surein Fernando. Surein commenced his role as Product Manager, Modalities this week and is eager to drive many exciting new developments around Fujifilm products and services.
We have asked Surein a few questions:
Q: Surein, what was your most recent position before this one?
A: Sony, Marketing - Networked System Products (APAC), Singapore.
Q: Summarise your previous experience in regards to modalities for us.
A: I come from an imaging background working on systems requiring multiple modules/ integration for deployment. My specialty was broadcast and motion picture cameras. Vertical markets included motion picture, news, documentary and event acquisition. However, I think there are a lot of similarities in value, type of sell, market – B2B and certain elements from a technology perspective.
Q: What are you looking forward to in your new role?
A: Something new to learn and the opportunity to come up with new ideas. Fujifilm operates in a growth industry here in Australia, which is promising for my career. Working with new technologies such as 3D is fascinating.
Q: Why did you choose Fujifilm?
A: Because it’s a respectable company. I like the fact that they’re Japanese and also the location next to Manly Beach; hopefully I’ll get to hit the surf during summer.
Q: What do you do when you’re away from your desk?
A: I play golf and I enjoy diving. Apart from outdoors, you’ll also meet me in pubs and cafes.
Q: What was your dream job when you were 5?
Q: Describe yourself in three words.
A: Just say – easy-going.
Q: What is your favourite place in the world?
A: Komodo chain of islands.
Q: If you weren’t doing this job, what would you be?
