FUJIFILM FUJINON SPONSORS ACS NATIONAL AWARDS AND EXHIBITS AT FIRST ACS NATIONAL AWARDS EXPO

SYDNEY, 19 January 2015 – As Major National Sponsor Fujinon Fujifilm will again be supporting the Australian Cinematographers Society National Awards which, for the first time in its proud history, will be held in Hobart, Tasmania on Saturday 2 May 2015 at the iconic Museum of Old and New Art, MONA.

In addition Fujinon Fujifilm will also be exhibiting and taking part in the first ever ACS Sponsors Expo which will be held at the Hotel Grand Chancellor on Friday 1 May and Saturday 2 May. The expo will run in parallel with a number of special events including presentations from ARRI Australia and Panasonic on Friday 1 May and a Pieter de Vries ACS workshop masterclass, Ray Martin AM retrospective presentation and Lemac/ACS NAB 2015 review on Saturday 2 May.

ACS National President, Ron Johanson ACS said, “We are very excited about this year’s awards for a number of reasons. The fact that they are the first National Awards to be held in Tasmania is very exciting in itself. The fact that they will be held at the MONA adds an even more special flavour to the event. In addition our first ever expo will bring a different dimension to the weekend. I’m delighted that Marc Van Agten and Fujinon Fujifilm are, as ever, sponsoring the ACS National Awards in such a wonderfully supportive way - we couldn’t do it without them. I’m doubly delighted that they are also exhibiting at the expo.”

Fujinon Fujifilm will be demonstrating their Cabrio range used by many ACS members and consisting of the Fujinon PL 19-90mm, 85-300mm and 14-35mm lenses at the expo. The Fujinon PL 19-90 and 85-300 Cabrio lenses feature an exclusive detachable servo drive unit, making them suitable for use as a standard PL lens. The Cabrios also feature flange focal distance adjustment, macro function and are LDS (Lens Data System) and /i metadata compatible. The 14-35mm wide angle Cabrio zoom lens was designed using the latest optical simulation technology and offers exceptional optical performance in the centre of the image as well as in the corners of the frame.

Alongside the Cabrio lenses at the expo will be a live demo of Fujinon HK 4K premier zoom cine lenses similar to the ones used by Claudio Miranda ASC on the Tom Cruise sci-fi blockbuster Oblivion.

Fujifilm GM for Optical Devices and Recording Media Marc Van Agten said, “Fujinon Fujifilm are delighted to be sponsoring ACS National Awards and taking part in the expo. We invite all ACS members and their guests to come and have a demo of our lenses on our stand at the expo and look forward to a great night of awards.”

The weekend will be launched with an official reception with her Excellency Professor The Honourable Kate Warner AM, Governor of Tasmania, at Tasmania's historic Government House on Friday the 1st of May.
