Oscar Winning Slumdog Millionare DOP Anthony DOD Mantle BSC DFF Tours Australia Courtesy of ACS and Fujifilm

Anthony Dod Mantle, the Oscar winning DOP on Slumdog Millionaire, was recently invited to tour Australia and speak at various screenings of the film by the ACS and Fujifilm. In what turned out to be a very successful, eventful and fun filled trip ADM, as he is known to his friends, was accompanied by ACS President Ron Johanson.

Major Australian Movies Shot With Fujifilm Stock

FUJIFILM Australia today gave details of three new Australian movies and one recent AFI winner shot exclusively on FUJIFILM stock. FUJIFILM General Manager Recording Media/Motion Picture Film Marc Van Agten said, “It is a very exciting time for the Australian film industry and these projects are a good indication of the quality of movies we can expect to see throughout 2009.”

The first of the new movies is BRAN NUE DAE directed by Rachel Perkins and shot by DOP Andrew Lesnie on ETERNA 250T and ETERNA 500T (Lesnie also shot the Australian film Love’s Brother on FUJIFILM stock). BRAN NUE DAE stars Geoffrey Rush, Magda Szubanski, Deborah Mailman, Ernie Dingo and Missy Higgins. As Australia's first Aboriginal musical the source material is semi-autobiographical, based on the story of writer Jimmy Chi's life in Broome and is a 3,000km journey of self discovery through spectacular landscape.

Fujifilm Signs Exclusive Deal with the ACS

FUJIFILM Australia today gave details of the exclusive rebate deal it has signed with the ACS in order to help fund the society’s new clubhouse.

ACS President Ron Johanson explained, “This amazing deal was instigated by FUJIFILM’s Marc Van Agten and Marc got his inspiration from FUJIFILM USA who recently sponsored the renovation of the American Society of Cinematographers’ clubhouse.”

The recent ACS Queensland/Northern Territory Awards 2009 held at the beautifully restored Tivoli Theatre, Fortitude Valley brought out talent in more ways than one according to ACS Federal President Ron Johanson ACS. Before the awards Johanson had been asked by Queensland secretary Karen Hayward if he could dance, unaware that the same question had been asked already of John Stokes ACS, Bob Blasdall, Tony Luu ACS, Brendan Williams ACS and Andrew Conder ACS.
